A Great Arrival

My Arrival into Lausanne was incredible. Sheila picked me up from the train station, we went back to her house, she took my dirty laundry, we went to the gym, came back, the laundry was folded in my room, and 30 minutes later, a steak dinner was waiting for me. It was incredible. The first week in switzerland, Sheila and I would wake up, go to the gym and then go site-seeing. The first place we went to was called Chateau Chillon, a huge castle. it was amazing, we walked along the water and just took in the beauty of the mountains and water. The next day we went to a place called Gruyere, a small medieval town, also a place that makes unbelievable cheese. In Gruyere is a little bar/restaurant owned by the creator of the Alien movies, and from the look of the place, you could tell he was into aliens and weird things. Everything was made from bones and skulls. It was very interesting.

Switzerland

On my train ride to Switzerland, i made the mistake of not bringing any food our drinks. Live and learn. I was sitting next to an old German fellow who was very prepared, he had all types of food, he even had a large water bottle filled with wine. to pass the time, i finished a book Lou lent me, great book called Snuff by Chuck Palahniuk (The Author of Fight Club) Good call Lou. After finishing the book I decided to jot down some notes. here's a little poem i wrote, after getting some inspiration by listening to a great Avett Brothers Song, "Murder In The City" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE7rkSELM3I )

Gazing out the window of my train
I remember what my Father said
He said write us son, we'll miss you
We'll miss you when you're gone
Shook my hand, said "don't be gone too long"

As I Left to board upon the plain
A tear came down my Mother's face
Johnny dear, we'll miss you
We'll miss you 'round this place
Hugged her close, with a tear as I turned away...

Prague 3

It was Thursday night and I had been there since Monday, and Kathleen and I had been going out every night since I arrived, finally I thought, maybe a "resting night." Nope. Kathleen's good friend from Fordham, Kyle, had just arrived. All of us went out that night and had a great time, we saw the city in a whole new way. The night life in Prague is incredible, on Thursday night we went to a place called, "The Pub" after wondering around and cite seeing. This place was by far the coolest place in Prague. every table has multiple taps, where you pour yourself your own beer, and on the table is a screen that calculates how much beer your table has had, and the cost. Up in the front of the bar is a huge screen that shows how much each table has had, and it becomes a competition and makes fora great atmosphere throughout the place.

Later that night we went to a place called Radost and then to another place called Roxy, both very wild and fun. On Friday night, we went to a night club called The Five Story Club (the largest night club in Central Europe)t Tis place was hilarious, each level had different types of music, 70's music, reggae music... one level literally had a sign that said "Black Music." We took a picture. On Saturday night we went to a place called "sasazu" also very fun and wild. Sunday was our day of rest, and off to Switzerland Monday morning!

I walked along the riverside in Prague until the path ended, so I crossed the bridge, listening to music and just kept walking, taking pictures along the way. I came across a really cool medieval church and walked into it. Sat down and joined the 4 old women praying the rosary. As I started to leave, the started to set up for the saturday mass.

I left and continued to keep walking with no particular direction in mind. I stumbled upon a small bar in what seemed to be a rougher part of town. the bar was filled with old men, I was the younger by a few decades. the men looked like they had just gotten off from working in the coal mines, and as soon as I walked in to the bar, the noise stopped, eyes on me, they knew I wasn't a native to the city. a little nervous, I order a beer. Sat down, and watched the old men play their card game. I tried to find out what game they were playing, but i couldn't even understand what was on the cards. I ordered another beer, another 22 Kc (1.25$)

I figured Mass would be starting soon, so I headed back to the church. mass was already over, so I walked around a little more, it was getting a little chilly though, so I walked into another bar, and ordered a Kozel, a dark beer recommended by Liz. Not bad, but it was getting late, so I headed back. I got a little lost along the way, so I hopped onto the bus. Finally made it back. Time for the nightlife with Kathleen.

Prague

As I got of the plane and walked into the Prague airport, I was a little nervous as to whether or not i would be allowed into the country or not, considering I didn't have an exiting ticket. Then I saw the stamp come down on my passport. Got in no problem.
I hoped into a cab, and showed the cabby my phone, on it was Kathleen Creevy's address, Vratislova 10, Praha 2, and off we went. Kathleen was in class so I walked into the bar nextdoor, put my bags down, ordered a pint, and started writing. there was no music playing which i thought was strange, but then quickly realized that was common in Prague

That's just the beginning of my journey, hell, that's just the beginning of Prague.
